Information on the 2025 Exhibition of Works by Mr. Takaya Fujii

DatesSeptember 20 – October 23

This event has ended.

An exhibition of works by Mr. Takaya Fujii, a contemporary artist active mainly in Europe, including Germany, will begin at Rokuouin on Saturday, September 20.

At the same time, the fusuma paintings of the Guest Hall, which are usually closed to the public, will also be shown.
The fusuma paintings were created by Mr. Fujii in Reiwa 2 (2020) and depict “withered fallen oak leaves” on fifty-six panels.

“The radiance of fallen oak leaves embraces, all at once, the radiance of each stage of the process: sprouting, growing and putting forth green leaves, blooming from buds, and eventually turning red and falling. In it, one can sense the ultimate beauty of the oak’s life.
How one receives the withered fallen oak leaves is left to each person’s sensibility, but they can also be seen as an expression symbolizing, so to speak, ‘emptiness.’” (Retired head priest of Rokuouin)

Please take this opportunity to come and enjoy the fusuma paintings of withered fallen leaves, which connect with Zen thought, together with Mr. Takaya Fujii’s new works.
The exhibition will be held until Thursday, October 23.

Period: Saturday, September 20 – Thursday, October 23, 2025, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (last admission at 4:30 PM)

*Please pay the admission fee at the reception desk.
